We’ve all heard that “the safest way to travel is by air.”
So, what is the reason? Have you ever considered it? Every day, millions of people use an airline to get from one place to another. We’re talking about millions of people in the sky, at an altitude of about 40,000 feet, who rely on the air’s lift.
What do you think so many people rely on?
Aviation safety is essential, it encompasses the work done to reduce risks to acceptable levels and keep them there. Do you believe that aviation safety is only in the air? Is it safe to take off and land a plane without any problems? What steps have been taken to ensure this safety?
Aviation Safety is a system based on aviation standards and specifications. Aviation safety begins when the aircraft enters the path area and ends when the aircraft returns to the parking lot after landing.
Safety analyses are performed in order to reduce risks to the desired level during flight, whether taking off or landing. An airport’s life cannot be continued as it was on the first day it was established. It should be inspected, and its flaws should be identified and corrected. These are determined by the standards. Findings and improvements should be made while keeping the International Civil Aviation Organization’s requirements (Annex 14 and Annex 15) in mind.
Airports are certified on a regular basis to demonstrate that they are airworthy and safe, and during this process, they are inspected in accordance with ICAO standards and requirements. The current state of airports is evaluated using thousands of criteria. The following are some of the criteria examined during this process.
As a result of these studies, all aircraft at the airport is guaranteed to be safe. Every airport that meets these requirements and renews its certificate in the new period assures all stakeholders that it is a safe, flight-ready airport.
Thanks to aviation safety, people now fly with confidence. Let us not forget that risks do not vanish on their own, and they do not disappear completely. To keep risks manageable, safety culture is required. This culture is interested in everything from ground services to pilots. It is within our power to provide safer transportation by prioritizing safety and mitigating risks. Self-awareness is the starting point for safety. Stay safe…
